H1/AS1 6th Edition — effective 27 November 2025
H1/AS1 6th Edition introduced material changes to how residential thermal compliance is calculated. ConsentIQ was built for the new standard from the ground up — not retrofitted onto an older model.
| What changed in 6th Edition | ConsentIQ H1 | Older approach |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule Method | ✓ Correctly removed — Nov 2025 | May still appear in older tools |
| Framing fraction defaults | ✓ MBIE 6th ed 38% default applied | Varies — often not disclosed |
| Slab-on-ground floor minimum | ✓ Minimum removed in 6th ed | 5th ed minimum may still show |
| Reference building R-values | ✓ 6th ed Table 2.1.2.7 values | 5th ed values understate requirement |
| Drawing parse | ✓ AI reads your drawing set | Manual entry only |
| NZS 4214 derivation shown | ✓ Parallel-path in the schedule | Typically not shown |
Schedule Method removal confirmed: H1/AS1 6th Edition Amendment 1, effective 27 November 2025. Slab-on-ground floor minimum removed in 6th Edition — no longer required under the Calculation Method.
How it works
Drop your multi-sheet PDF — sections, elevations, window schedule, spec notes. ConsentIQ uploads it securely and passes it to the AI for reading. Any size, any layout.
The AI returns every construction R-value it found, with source evidence — which sheet, which detail. Green means sourced. Amber means assumed. Red means not found. You confirm each one and enter the areas. The schedule is yours.
One click generates a complete H1/AS1 6th Edition Thermal Performance Schedule — compliance result, heat loss breakdown, minimum R-value checks, NZS 4214 derivation, and a designer declaration. Print to PDF and attach to your consent set.
Live demo — what ConsentIQ reads
Not a mockup. The cards below are identical to what appears when ConsentIQ finishes reading a real drawing set. Anonymised project, real parse output.
The output
A complete H1/AS1 6th Edition Thermal Performance Schedule — ready to attach to your consent set. This is an excerpt from a real schedule (anonymised).
| External surface (air film) | R 0.03 |
| Metal corrugate iron + building paper | R 0.01 |
| Ventilated roof space (still air, vented) | R 0.11 |
| R7.0 lofted ceiling batts covering bottom chord | R 7.00 |
| 13mm Gib plasterboard ceiling lining | R 0.06 |
| Internal surface (air film) | R 0.09 |
| Construction R (series sum) | R 7.30 |

Common questions
What changed in H1/AS1 6th Edition?
6th Edition came into force on 27 November 2025. The Schedule Method was removed entirely — only the Calculation Method and Modelling Method remain as valid compliance paths. The slab-on-ground floor R-value minimum was removed under the Calculation Method. Reference building R-values were updated, and framing fraction defaults were revised per MBIE guidance. Any H1 schedule produced under the 5th Edition Schedule Method is no longer a valid compliance path for consents lodged after that date.
How does the AI drawing parse work?
You upload your drawing set as a PDF. ConsentIQ passes it to an AI that reads your sections, elevations, spec notes, and window schedule — identifying the construction R-values for roof, wall, floor, windows, skylights, and framing fraction. Each value comes back with source evidence: which sheet, which detail, what it read. Green means sourced directly from the drawings. Amber means a conservative default was assumed. Red means the value was not found and requires your input. The AI reads the drawings; you make the decisions.
What does the lodge-ready schedule include?
The H1/AS1 6th Edition Thermal Performance Schedule includes: compliance result (pass or fail); thermal envelope areas per para 2.1.2.10; proposed vs reference building heat loss; construction R-value derivation with NZS 4214 parallel-path calculation; minimum R-value checks per para 2.1.2.11; a required supporting documents list; and a designer declaration. Designed to attach directly to your building consent application.
How long does it take from upload to lodge-ready schedule?
The AI parse takes 30–60 seconds for a multi-sheet drawing set. Confirming R-values and entering areas takes another 5–10 minutes. Total time under 15 minutes for most residential projects.
Can I use this for alterations and extensions, not just new dwellings?
Yes. ConsentIQ H1 supports three envelope scopes: new dwelling (whole building), extension or addition only, and altered elements only. Select your scope on the start screen and the reference building calculation adjusts accordingly.
What's the difference between the standalone H1 tool and a ConsentIQ subscription?
The standalone H1 tool produces a single schedule for $29 per download ($14.50 during Early Access to 30 August 2026). A ConsentIQ subscription includes H1 schedules alongside the full pre-lodgement compliance check — gap tracker, council-calibrated RFI pattern checks across 420,000+ real data points, MBIE determinations search, and team features. Solo ($79/mo) includes 5 H1 schedules per month; Studio ($199/mo) includes 15; Practice ($449/mo) includes unlimited.
Upload your drawing set. ConsentIQ reads the construction R-values off your sections and specs, you confirm the assumptions, it generates the schedule. Done in under 15 minutes.
